  1. Here is a modification of the old BSD daemon login tiff which works
  2. for NeXTStep 3.1.  Not a great work, but I thought I'd save somebody
  3. else half an hour of frustration with rather primitive tools like
  4. IconBuilder.  Just put the tiff file somewhere where it would feel at
  5. home (like your kernel sources, but /LocalLibrary/Images/Login will do
  6. as well) and as root:

  8. % dwrite loginwindow ImageFile /LocalLibrary/Images/Login/unixdaemon31.tiff

  10. And because this is such a miniscule matter, here is a undocumented
  11. feature NS 3.1 feature absolutely free of charge.  The moving
  12. loginwindow may be gone for good, but at least now there is a
  13. screensaver built into the login window.  To enable it (again as
  14. root):

  16. % dwrite loginwindow ScreenSaverEnabled YES
  17.  
  18. To set the dimming time to 60 seconds:

  20. % dwrite loginwindow TimeToDim 60
